No minors.
I’m so old that two of my kids are adults. If you’re younger than my middle kid, you shouldn’t be following me. It’s not only a comfort thing, but a “sometimes I post material that could be considered unsafe and illegal to show minors” thing. I’m sorry but I don’t want to ~*~*~*corrupt the youth*~*~*~ or whatever. Y’all can do zoomer things in Not This Direction.
No out and out assholes (y’know, TERFs, supremacists, militants, redlinks in general, the usual suspects)
If you come up red, I block you. If you have an opinion I disagree with, I block you. I very liberally apply the block button.
My only radical opinion is that people can self-identify however the fuck they like, and queer isn’t a slur. Hi, I’m queer. You can pry the label out of my cold queer hands.
It’s just fucking rude and creepy in general if you tag other people’s art as ‘kin’ or ‘self’ without them saying it’s okay. don’t do that. I kindly ask that if you kin or bond or in other way identify with things to some obviously unhealthy extent to keep me completely out of the loop on it, because man almighty have i run into some fuckin people in my time.
Oh, and I don’t tag anything. If you need to keep off certain subjects for mental health purposes, I suggest not following me, because you never know what you’re going to get.
I do my best not to post flashing gifs, and for the most part, I don’t reblog political posts, money begging, activism, or other stuff that would stress me out if I had to look at it. I’m never going to.
One of the niche hobbies I have is insulator collecting. Insulators are the glass/ceramic parts that keep electrical lines from shorting out:
They come in all sorts of colors and shapes, some rare, some common:
They can be the size of a fist, or long chains:
The hobby is dominated by retired lineworkers. But it deserves so much more attention! They are often referred to as “crown jewels of the wire”. Anyway, this is my niche infodump. Thanks for reading!

Attached images are of Taylor Swift, a white woman with sunglasses, blonde hair, a black tank top reading “this is my fight song”, and green shorts. She is wearing a leather bondage harness. It is backwards.
my favorite genre of humor is alt text being just completely factual and somehow reading the image for filth

Tumblr’s Core Product Strategy
Here at Tumblr, we’ve been working hard on reorganizing how we work in a bid to gain more users. A larger user base means a more sustainable company, and means we get to stick around and do this thing with you all a bit longer. What follows is the strategy we’re using to accomplish the goal of user growth. The @labs group has published a bit already, but this is bigger. We’re publishing it publicly for the first time, in an effort to work more transparently with all of you in the Tumblr community. This strategy provides guidance amid limited resources, allowing our teams to focus on specific key areas to ensure Tumblr’s future.
The Diagnosis
In order for Tumblr to grow, we need to fix the core experience that makes Tumblr a useful place for users. The underlying problem is that Tumblr is not easy to use. Historically, we have expected users to curate their feeds and lean into curating their experience. But this expectation introduces friction to the user experience and only serves a small portion of our audience.
Tumblr’s competitive advantage lies in its unique content and vibrant communities. As the forerunner of internet culture, Tumblr encompasses a wide range of interests, such as entertainment, art, gaming, fandom, fashion, and music. People come to Tumblr to immerse themselves in this culture, making it essential for us to ensure a seamless connection between people and content.
To guarantee Tumblr’s continued success, we’ve got to prioritize fostering that seamless connection between people and content. This involves attracting and retaining new users and creators, nurturing their growth, and encouraging frequent engagement with the platform.
Our Guiding Principles
To enhance Tumblr’s usability, we must address these core guiding principles.
- Expand the ways new users can discover and sign up for Tumblr.
- Provide high-quality content with every app launch.
- Facilitate easier user participation in conversations.
- Retain and grow our creator base.
- Create patterns that encourage users to keep returning to Tumblr.
- Improve the platform’s performance, stability, and quality.
Below is a deep dive into each of these principles.
Hi folks! We’re surprised to see how many of you think we’re getting rid of the reverse-chronological dashboard or pivoting to a solely algorithmic feed. We’re not! We can see how you might have come to that conclusion, so let us reassure you and clear some things up.
We have a ton of options and toggles to customize your experience. Want a reverse-chronological dashboard feed? No problem! The chronological feed is not going anywhere. Just toggle off “Best Stuff First” in your dashboard settings and scroll away. Want to see more art or fanfic of your favorite movie or show? Follow some tags and you’ll find additional posts and new blogs to follow. We’ve had an algorithm for years—we just don’t make you use it if you don’t want to.
Tumblr is a place where you can tailor and customize your experience to individual preferences. With this core product strategy as guidance, we’ll keep improving Tumblr for new and existing users alike.
Surely you know that making the user interface look like Twitter isn’t going to help you with your ‘this place is hard to navigate’ problem. Twitter is ALSO hard to navigate. In fact, if you want to be easy to navigate, we suggest having a better laid-out dropdown menu for your settings (as in, make it obvious where things are,) and a more intuitive layout that doesn’t have the three-frame thing.
Also, most screens people use are no longer in the standard square. Use the whole screen! What are you afraid of! At least make it a decision on which layout your users can use!
Roll it back or hemorrhage what few people of your original userbase you have left. Don’t cave and pretend like being twitter is the only way to be.
